Recycling

We share the purpose of creating a circular economy.

To prevent that the plastics we retrieve, eventually end up as litter again, good reuse and recycling are needed.

Together with our local and international partners, we share the purpose of creating a circular economy.
Plastic Recycling is a topic that needs constant research and innovation.

We explore how various cutting-edge technologies can be used to recycle different types of plastic.

Recycled Park

Floating parks are a plus for cities. They bring more greenery to highly urbanized areas.
In collaboration with the Municipality of Rotterdam, we developed green structures from recycled plastics. In this way, we can stimulate biodiversity in harbors.
We constructed hexagon shaped building blocks whereon, at and in vegetation grows. Through the park runs a small canal about half a meter deep, where birds, fish, and micro-organisms find food, breeding ground and shelter. 28 hexagon blocks of 5 square meters make our Floating Park in Rotterdam 140 square meters. It is located in the Persoonshaven, Persoonsdam 151.

Litter Traps

We develop passive Litter Traps to retrieve floating plastic in ports, canals, and rivers before it enters the seas and oceans. The Litter Trap system effectively retrieves marine litter without using any energy. We are currently developing new versions of the Litter Trap, in fact, we are designing a device with a larger capacity and a modular Litter Trap that can be easily transported globally.

Seating Elements

To raise awareness about the damages caused by plastic pollution, and to show the valuable possibilities of recycling plastic waste, we produced 3D-printed sofas. The sofas are made from recycled plastic with 10% of glass fiber. They are available for sale and the size is adjustable on request.

Durable building blocks

In most of the areas where plastic pollution is highly concentrated also the housing situation is poor. People live in slums and have a high demand for durable shelter. The bricks can be used as building blocks to make many modular and circular designs.

Each brick is made of 1.5 kilos of 100% recycled plastic with dimensions of 200x100x135mm (LxBxH).

Recycling plastic litter into housing turns the environmental problem into a benefit for the local population. It shows the potential and value of circular re-use.

SackSea

The polystyrene that we retrieve is used as a filling in the comfortable chairs produced by SackSea.

The chairs are made from recycled plastic and can be used in the house, as well as in the garden.
