Recycling

We are committed to playing an active role in the development of a circular economy.

At CLEAR RIVERS, we believe that a circular economy is key to preventing the plastics we retrieve from ending up as litter again. We work closely with our local and international partners to share this vision and strive toward a future where plastics are recycled and reused.

Our commitment to creating a circular economy is reflected in our ongoing research and innovation in plastic upcycling. We explore cutting-edge technologies that can be used to recycle a variety of plastic types. By investing in sustainable recycling practices, we aim to minimize waste and maximize the value of plastic materials.

CLEAR RIVERS Recycled Park

CLEAR RIVERS Recycled Park

Our Floating Park in Rotterdam is a green solution for highly urbanized areas. Created in collaboration with the Municipality of Rotterdam, we built hexagon-shaped building blocks from recycled plastics that stimulate biodiversity in harbors. The 140 square meter park features vegetation growing on, at, and in the blocks, with a small canal providing food and shelter for birds, fish, and micro-organisms.

Litter Traps

Litter Traps

The Litter Trap system effectively retrieves floating plastic in ports, canals, and rivers without using any energy. Our Litter Traps are made of recycled plastics.

Durable Building Blocks

Durable Building Blocks

In areas with high plastic pollution, housing is often inadequate with people living in slums and in need of durable shelter. Our solution is to turn plastic litter into building bricks, with each brick made of 1.5 kilos of 100% recycled plastic and dimensions of 200x100x135mm (LxBxH). This circular reuse approach not only helps address the environmental problem but also benefits the local population by providing affordable housing options. This project is a collaboration with UniBrick.

3D Printed Seating Elements

To raise awareness about the damages caused by plastic pollution, and to show the valuable possibilities of recycling plastic waste, we produced 3D-printed sofas. The sofas are made from recycled plastic with 10% of glass fiber. They are available for sale and the size is adjustable on request.
